Fees, Insurance & Payment Options
Standard Therapy Rates
Therapy typically begins with a diagnostic assessment to understand your needs, history, and goals for care. Ongoing sessions are then scheduled based on clinical fit and availability.

Diagnostic Assessment: $175
Ongoing Therapy Sessions: $150 per clinical hour
Reduced-Fee Therapy Program
Painted Bird Psychotherapy is committed to increasing access to quality mental health care. A limited number of reduced-fee appointments are available with our Resident Clinicians (Supervisees in Social Work), all of whom practice under the clinical supervision of Rev. Desiree Smith, LCSW-S.
Reduced-Fee Rates
Initial Assessment: $100
Individual Therapy Session: $75
Reduced-fee appointments are limited and subject to clinician availability.
Private Pay Services
Clients may choose to utilize private-pay services regardless of insurance status. Private-pay services offer increased flexibility, enhanced privacy, and freedom from insurance-related treatment restrictions.
Out-of-Network Benefits & Superbills
If we are considered out-of-network with your insurance plan, you may be eligible for partial reimbursement through your insurance provider.
Upon request, we can provide a Superbill, which is a detailed receipt that you may submit directly to your insurance company for potential reimbursement.

Immigration Evaluations
Immigration evaluations are not typically covered by insurance.
Fees vary depending on the type and complexity of the evaluation. Please contact our office for current pricing and scheduling availability.
Clinical Supervision & Consultation
Clinical supervision, consultation, and professional development services are available for Virginia residents and clinicians seeking advanced trauma-informed training.

Good Faith Estimates
Under federal law, clients who do not use insurance or who choose to self-pay have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate outlining the anticipated costs of services prior to beginning treatment.
